I’m on a road trip to Napa Valley. This is my first vacation in six years so I’m really excited. I passed a dairy farm along the way and was bowled over by the scent. The next time I meet a dairy farmer I’m going to give them a big hug. I get to enjoy cheese and ice cream because they do the hard, unappreciated work.
This translates over to any work environment. There are things we all hate to do. I hate sweeping so I really appreciate the janitors who keep the office looking great. I’m not very good at smoothing ruffled feathers. My boss is excellent at this task and makes it look easy.
We all need to be reminded every once in a while to appreciate the people who do the things we hate doing. Take a moment this week to thank someone. Remember, that could be your one and only job.
